A refinished dial is as already stated a dial that has been re coated, repainted, re plated and emblems and/or markers replaced. when repairng or restoring a watch one must decide whether the dial is reusable or if it is deteriorated where it just looks terrible. Although the dial plate was original when MY refinishes one, that alone doesn’t really retain any value. If the dial is rare then I understand doing this. But if it is a modern Rolex, a service dial and new hands is the best option IMHO. Not talking about refinished dials as refinished dials and relumed dials are easy to spot. I got my father's, now my, 1959-ish tt Thunderbird wet and didn't get it to Manny Chamosa fast enough to keep the dial from corroding. Mr. Chamosa serviced the watch but sent the dial out. The dial came back in beautiful condition. They even appear to have buffed the old stick markers, so it looks new. Location: Underground. Posts: 2,584. Case refinishing at RSC Toronto. I have an appointment with RSC next week to drop off my 16760 for service. I recently had the hands lume stabilized and hope it won’t be flagged for replacement, as that’ll be the end of that story.
