If you are not hung up about getting an in-house caliber from Panerai, the PAM90 is a fantastic choice with the offset power reserve indicator and sub-seconds. Another fundamental difference between the two watches is time display "resulution". On the 90, it has minute markers and also a hacking movement, so you can set the watch exactly to the atomic clock source and always be able to read the time to the minute.
They are all good choices and classic look/design. Like already mentioned it depends if you like the power reserve gauge or not. The only difference from the 104 or 164 is the dial otherwise they are pretty much the same. I've owned both the 104 and 90, both were great watches and since the 104 was my first PAM it is a special watch to me. Panerai now comes in a "dimunitive" 38mm, and a more wearable 42mm, and this model still comes in the "common" 45mm size too. Now I know you guys would say - but Panerai has already made a 42mm size before even the due is released.
A stainless steel watch with a cushion-shaped case, a black dial and a power reserve indicator. Learn about its features, history, price and comparison with the PAM 123.
