But because of its slimmer and more dramatically tapered bracelet, bigger clasp, and new dial proportions, I’m leaning more toward the older Explorer reference. The proportions of the 114270 are similar to the prior 60+ years of Rolex 36mm watches. The 124270 looks great, but it looks like a modern 39mm Rolex shrunken down to 36mm. Can't go wrong, either way.
After having a couple of days to reflect, I still prefer the 124270 to the 114270.
